AFoCR takes great pride in its successful effort to promote NATO membership for the Czech Republic in the years preceding final accession in 1999, exactly twenty five years ago.

In 2000, AFoCR held a gala in New York awarding Madeleine Albright, then serving as Secretary of State under President Bill Clinton, with the AFoCR Havel Civil Society Award for her essential leadership in the effort to achieve NATO expansion.

The letter is addressed to the US Congressional leadership, members of the Czech Caucus and the chairs of the key congressional committees.

Jack White, a former member of the AFOCR’s board of directors, passed away on July 26, 2023. He was almost 102 years old.

He played an instrumental role in rebuilding the Woodrow Wilson statue in Prague and the installation of a statue of the first Czech president Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk in Washington D.C.
