Since the fall of the Iron Curtain, the Czech Republic has enjoyed a huge surge in popularity as a place to study abroad. Many university programs offer semester or longer programs vary from short 3 week language courses, to full degree programs at some of the most prestigious institutions in Europe. Many Universities and Colleges offer programs for studying abroad.
For example, George Washington University offers a number of well-regarded programs for studying abroad in the Czech Republic.
There are also are special courses unique in the Czech Republic such as those offered through the award-winning Film and TV School (FAMU). FAMU is an integral part of The Czech Academy of Performing Arts, which was founded after World War II, in 1947. It is the fifth oldest film school in the world. Its graduates include many influential filmmakers and scriptwriters, many known within international contexts such as Oscar winners or laureates of international film festivals. In addition, most people working in the Czech Republic’s film and TV industry in artistic or production positions, as well as still-photographers in various media are graduates from FAMU.
