A native of Fort Scott, Kansas, AFoCR Director of Communications Lillis Werder attended Georgetown University in Washington, DC graduating from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service and majoring in Political Science with a fluency in the Spanish language. Since college, she has remained in the Washington DC metropolitan area working in the stock brokerage and foreign exchange businesses, and Information Technology fields. After a long career at IBM, she went on to achieve her creative goal and studied to become a professional photographer. Now, a fine art and event photographer, she owns her own photography business, Lillis Photography, and displays her work in several art galleries and juried art shows in the DC and Richmond, VA arear, and covers all gala dinner and embassy events for AFoCR as their official photographer often photographing world leaders. Lillis also coordinates the biannual newsletters for AFoCR, and acts as their Project Manager and Adminsistrator for development of the of the AFoCR web site. Many of her travel photos of Prague and other Czech villages appear on this site. Lillis also acts as Assistant Recording Secretary and Assistant Treasurer for AFoCR. She lives with her family in Northern Virginia. Lillis is a Getty Images photographer and travels to Europe and other foreign locations frequently for images which are sold worldwide to newspapers, magazines, books, catalogs, calendar and postcard companies, and web sites for advertising and educational purposes through internet stock photography sales by Getty Images and istockphoto.com.
Lillis also provides architectural photographs of home interiors for Virginia real estate agents for million dollar estates to promote sales via the internet. She sells her art year-round through the Torpedo Factory through the Art League of Alexandria, Rockledge Mansion in Occoquan, Virginia, Chasen Galleries in Richmond, VA, Apollo Fine Arts in West Hollywood, CA, and exhibits publicly with the F11 Womens' Photography Collective, private collections, historic homes including the Woodrow Wilson House in Washington, DC, specialty shops, and private offices. Her photos have appeared on web sites of RedBook Magazine, The Lancet, National Geographic, Elan Magazine, Czech News media, FOX News, the Washington Post, and many other publications. Lillis also provides images for the hospitality and healthcare industries. Her photos have also been purchased for nationwide products for the store called Restoration Hardware and she recently provided photos of the historic Woodrow Wilson House in Washington, DC for a coffee table book on the President's homes.
