On October 6, 2015, AFoCR Directors attended a panel discussion on politics in the Marble Hall at the Rytířská branch of Česká Spořitelna, Prague. With this panel, AFoCR seeks to understand the reality of contemporary Czech life with a particular focus on politics. The following panelists are outstanding exemplars in their respective fields.
Jiří Pehe acted as moderator for this discussion. As the Director of NYU Prague since 1998, Jiří Pehe was the Director of the Political Depoartment of the late President Havel from 1997-1999. He served as Chairman of the Program Committee of the Forum 2000 Foundation that organizes annual international conferences under Havel's auspices.
Brian Whitmore is a Senior Coorespondent in RFE/RL's Central Newsroom. Mr. Whitmore covers European security, energy and military issues, and domestic developments in Russia. He also writes The Power Vertical blog.
Štefan Füle is a the former European Commisioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy. He is the former Minister for European Affairs and former Deputy Defense Minister. Mr. Füle served as Czech Permanent Representative to NATO, Czech Ambassador to the United Kingdom and to Lithuania. He was Director of the Security Policy Department and the United Nations Department at the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Füle studied at the Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University and at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations.
Daniel Anýž, a prominent Czech journalist as been Coorespondent of economic daily Hospodářské noviny (HN) in the United States. Currently, he works at HN as a journalist and commentator.
