On October 28, the Czech Republic celebrated its National Day as the nation commemorated the 95th anniversary of the founding of independent Czechoslovakia. The Embassy organized a wreath-laying ceremony at the statue of first Czechoslovak President Tomas Garrigue Masaryk with AFoCR followed by a reception at the Embassy. AFoCR and the Czech Embassy played national anthems and gave remarks before laying wreaths at the statue's base. Jaroslava Jermanová spoke at the ceremony. She is a Czech politician since October 2013 and Member of the Chamber of Deputies, from November 2013. She is its first Vice-President, and from 2004 to 2008, she was Councilor of the Central Region of the ODS, and the former Mayor and Councilor of the village Krhanice. Since 2014, she has been Councilor of the town of Benesov.
